Tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Surf Life Saving Queensland Awards of Excellence Dinner.
The annual dinner is a night not to be missed!
It provides an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the exceptional efforts of our outstanding Lifesavers and Clubs and celebrate the achievements of the past season with a night of fabulous food and entertainment!
Join us on Saturday July 31 at the beautiful Victoria Park Marquee where for $120 you’ll receive a three course meal, unlimited beer, wine and soft drink, live entertainment from the ‘Space Cadetts’ and lots of great lucky door prizes!
We encourage all members and club representatives to attend this fun filled night

QUT Survey - Participate and you could win!
SLSQ members have been invited to participate in a study conducted by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). This study is investigating psychological well-being, including feelings of belonging and support in clubs, at work, and elsewhere.
By participating in an online survey twice (about three months apart) you could win a $600 gift voucher or one of ten $30 vouchers.
Please note the survey is anonomyous and voluntary and individuals and organisations cannot be indentified.

Youth Involvement Program (YIPs)
NEW RESOURCES OUT NOW!
SLSQ and the State Membership Services Committee are excited to release supporting resources to assist clubs with running the Youth Involvement Program.
An innovative program developed by Anglesea SLSC in Victoria to provide motivation for the clubs’ junior members. YIPs is a reward program for members aged 13 to 25 and operates on a points-based system, where participants collect points for being involved in a range of lifesaving activities.
The more activities youth engage in and the more hours they volunteer, the greater the points collected. Points count for EVERYTHING that you can do in lifesaving under the following categories:
1. Lifesaving
2. Development
3. Competition
4. Administration
5. Junior Activities
6. Youth Activities
7. Club Activities
8. Community Project (@ Gold Level)
As points and patrol hours accumulate youth get rewarded for their contribution in three stages along the way:
BRONZE
SILVER
GOLD
Surf Lifesaving is highly respected by the public and continual involvement in a volunteer organisation, as documented by the YIPs program, will do great things to help develop members’ education, broaden employment opportunities, and boost life skills in general.
